Hi my loves!! Guess what? You may have figured out by the title BUT I am gonna tell you anyway! I am doing my first meet & greet! I LOVE getting to meet you guys and have teamed up with Lane Bryant to host their best fitting denim event here in Huntsville! It is going to be pretty awesome! We are doing awesome sales on denim, some styling and giveaways. Oh, and there will be a DJ!! Come out to my Meet & Shop Lane Bryant Denim Event this Saturday, Feb 9th from 2-4pm! Here is a little flyer with all the deets for you to screen shot!
I am so excited and humbled that a huge company like Lane Bryant asked me to partner up for this event! Like seriously, someone pinch me! Not only are they going to let me run amuck in their store this Saturday, but they also gave me a gift card to style up a look in honor of this event. Of course, I focused it around the new denim but picked out a few pieces that you can mix and match and they can be staple wardrobe pieces.

The Look
So, let’s break down this look! To start, I knew I wanted a distressed skinny jean and picked the Power Pocket Super Stretch in a medium wash. In power pocket jeans I HAVE to size up. The are mid-rise and I am a solid 22 in this style of pant. Now, I know your like… “umm Megan, what is a power pocket?” Well, it’s a slimming mesh technology panel behind the pockets that keeps your tummy under wraps and a mesh panel in the back that stops the waist from bagging or gapping out. Which is GREAT but does require me to go up a size. Your girl carries a lot of weight in the belly and booty area!
So, with these awesome jeans on deck and I wandered around the store when my olive loving heart sang at the sight of this jacket! This is the Ruffle-Front Anorak Jacket I loved the utility vibe to it which gave it a rough and tough look but then the ruffle detail added a feminine edge. I went with my usual 18/20 for this jacket and love the fit! Plenty of arm room and lightweight enough to be wearable all day long.
Next, I knew I wanted really wanted a striped shirt to go underneath but didn’t see anything that sparked joy. Yes, I have been watching Marie Kondo, I am working though the steps. Anyway, since I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for in the store I went with a solid black High Neck Drapey Tank. This tank has a dolphin cut, longer in the front and back and shorter on the sides, and I wore my usual 18/20 in it as well. This cut is one of my favorites and I knew I wanted the tank for an addition to my wardrobe but the cut wasn’t quite right for this jacket.
Problem Solving with Styling
The tank was longer than the jacket in the front and that back and I didn’t care for how it looked but didn’t want to buy another tank in addition to this one. So, here is where I brought in a little #stylehaccc. I tucked the tank into the back of the jeans and with a hair elastic swept the tank to the side and secured it toward my hip. This gave the roomy look that I was going for in a layering piece and a nice ruched effect. It paired under the jacket and with the jeans perfectly! Now I have a cute dolphin cut tank to wear with other looks and got the style I was going for in this one as well!
To finish off the look, I added a few of my favorite things. Blush, gold and animal print. I wear animal print as a neutral on a regular basis and take any opportunity to add a touch of it to a look. These animal print flats with the cut out sides were the perfect shoes for this look! I think they dressed it up to perfection. I felt it needed a necklace to break up the solid black tank and added a gold pendant necklace with a tassel.
Lastly, I had to put together my favorite tones, olive and blush. These two lovers are an even better combination than oreos and ice cream and don’t @ me because these are FACTS! The finished look is bomb, it’s easily in my top 5 of styles I’ve done for sure! Btw, I also plan to ditch the necklace, flats and purse for sneaks and a baseball cap for a casual version too! How would you style this jacket?
